Converting your traffic into leads with the Funnel

Traffic is important for your real estate website to be successful, but it is not the be-all end-all of an internet marketing strategy.

To make the most of the traffic your site generates, you need to make sure your site is usable, and that it is designed to funnel your clients to an action page. Think of it this way: you have a little window shop on a busy street. Thousands of people are walking by and looking in as they pass, but nobody comes in to buy anything. If you aren’t encouraging and helping your browsers to take action, then the same thing is happening to you on the world wide web.

To make use of this traffic you need to take a few steps when putting together your website. To make things easier, we’ll be assuming the “action” we want taken is for the browser to sign up for our weekly newsletter.

Let’s take a look at some basic issues that, once solved, can boost our overnight.

  • Where are people landing? Are they coming in via your homepage? Via keyword rich blog posts? Make sure you’ve got a noticeable, attention grabbing link or form available to the browser when they first land so they can sign up instantly.
  • Is it easy to get around your website? After the browser lands, is the navigation clear and easy to follow? Most browsers arrive and know what they are looking for, make sure you help them to find it before they lose interest and surf away.
  • Write your goal into your content. Include links at the end of entries or blocks of text that allow the browser to go to the sign-up page. Even write up some custom entries or pages that are designed to promote your action page alone. Keep these short, spaced and easily scanned. This means no huge blocks of text. Most people don’t read on the internet, they scan rapidly to find what they’re looking for: make the link to your action page stand out and be easily found within your text entries.

Don’t waste your traffic, implement a few easy steps and you’ll be on your way to turning browsers into leads in no time.
