Most sites that sell goods have pages that direct you toward locations of their stores so that you can find an outlet close to you to buy goods or servises from. These pages usally contain their store location and times they are open. What they sometimes lack is enough information to compete in the local SERPs. You rarely see a dealer’s page compete with an Internet yellow pagesprovider, vertical aggregator, or special interest directory in a SERP.Â
Because these sites lack this vital information it has opened the market for independent dealers and providers to get a higher ranking on both organic and paid local search results.Â
The number of local businesses that have their own websites has grown to about 60 percent. About 9 million of the 12 million business lcoated in the printed yellow pages are independent businesses. These buisnesses see the value of having their own website . About 3 million of these businesses have a paid display ad that allows them to publish a URL.Â
Research has shown that 50 percent of customers that use on online yellow pages usually clicks back to to it after visiting a site. The reasons is that these sites lack essential and useful information for consumers.Â
The successful busiensses, the ones that people found useful information on, where ones that hasd a profile page. This page is a one-page Web site with well-organized and structured content.Â
It is not just about having a good site. It has to have the information that consumers want. It has to have this information displayed in such a way that they can scan a page quick and it provides information in a systematic way that is meaningful.Â
That is not to say that well built web sites are not important, because they are. What research suggests is that the information found on profile page can help direct more traffic to your site.Â
An important question to ask, when determining whether to have profile pages or website, is what do you want to accomplish? If you want to provide in depth information and services on line that there needs to be a good, well structured website in place. If you want to drive traffic to your business then a profile page should be considered. Search engines dewal with each of these differently and so you need to decide what is best for you.Â
