Google Tips: Don’t Dilute Your Keywords

We’re always talking about them: keywords.

That’s because they are of vital importance in the quest for more organic search traffic.

In our hurry to maximize our keyword counts there’s always things to keep in mind, but today we’ll talk about keyword dilution.

WHAT IS KEYWORD DILUTION?

Keyword dilution is targeting too many unrelated keywords on one web page. For example, if you try to optimize the same web page for motor oil and wedding dresses. Google gets distracted and your page rank will suffer for both keywords.

BEST PRACTICES

Try to keep 1 page for each keyword or small set of related keywords. For example, if you’re selling wedding dresses, make one page focused around a specific type of wedding dress. Same goes for the motor oil.

Keep it simple, focused, and on message. Don’t try to do too much on one web page, you can always create another.
