Google Tips: Don’t Try to Win ‘em All

Matt Cutts, Google Search guy, said it himself. It’s best for website owners, especially bloggers, to focus on a small niche first.

By launching a site that goes after every related keyword and topic you’re over expanding yourself. If you’re on a small budget with a small staff, or if you’re doing ti all yourself, its simply too much too soon.

‘Pick a smaller niche and get to be known as an expert there, and then build your way out and up’

Start with the most important topic and set of keywords, and own them. Put all your work into that single area until you start seeing some significant back linking and a rise in your traffic.

Once you have a firm column of support, start putting your attention in different areas.

Success in the internet is like any other medium or area of life: start small, work hard, and grow.
