Internet Marketing for Attorneys

The most effective way to get clients, regardless of your business, is to establish yourself as the authority on whatever it is you do. For Attorneys, this is particularly important.

With everyone turning to Google as first step to finding answers, its important to have a web presence that is visible online and that potential clients searching for information can find easily.

But how do you make yourself the “authority” of your particular legal field?

There are many things that can and should be done, but we’ll just focus on one today.

Blogging is good for lawyers

Blogs aren’t just for tech savvy folks, or for grassroots news reporters, or collectors, or [enter random blog stereotype here].

As a lawyer, a blog presents many unique opportunities for you to communicate your knowledge, expertise, and promotional material directly to your potential clients in a one-on-one medium that people respond to.

As a blogging lawyer, here are some things that you will do and how they’ll help grow your practice.

  • Explain what you do

Most of us aren’t lawyers. We have vague ideas of what type of lawyer to look for and even vaguer ideas of why exactly we need one and how they can help us. In your blog, you have the forum to start publishing short articles that explain facets of your practice and why people need your services.

If you’re a divorce lawyer, for example, you can write up an article about how the legal side of a divorce works, and the things that, as a lawyer, you can help a client achieve. Or, you can write up another one on how the divorce law works in your particular state or region.

Make your expertise shine through, and convince them via your knowledge that you’re their best choice.

  • Promote your success

You don’t need to spend thousands on fancy commercials to tell people how much in settlements you won. You can do the same on your blog. Let people know when cases end successfully, throw out some numbers that will lure clients into your arms, give as much detail as you can on the cases you’ve won and the people you’ve helped.

  • Get people to contact you

Create a channel that people can get to know you before speaking to you and motivate them to get in touch. Keep your contact information visible, write articles explaining how to approach lawyers, etc.

People are searching for information about a service you provide. Provide good information, and these people will trust you off the bat and want to speak to you.

Blog are cheap, effective forums to get an online presence that brings more traffic through your door.

It’s the base on which you can build a larger online marketing strategy that can become a big time source to grow your practice.
