Launching an E-Commerce Site

sites are launched about as frequently as barbs in a presidential election year. The key is having your site stand out from the crowd. The best advice you can get is to hold back some of your budget towards marketing. “A site unseen is an unseen site,” a wise man once said. OK, I am the one who said it.

The bottom-line is you do not want to make the mistake of using all your resources on having a website full of bells and whistles that will never be seen or heard because you did not save resources for marketing your website.

You want to make sure that your website has been optimized, submitted to engines and directories and announced online through online press releases, e-zine articles and blog postings.

For example, Belle Escape ( http://www.belleescape.com ) is a newly launched website that sells coastal decor, Shabby Chic decor, etc. The site owner used her resources to create a very fine looking, professional website. She also had the savvy to know to reserve some resources for online marketing. To that end, her website has been optimized, hand-submitted to engines and directories, and is being written about in e-zine articles and blog postings. Later this week a press release is being distributed about the site and in short her site will be formally and properly introduced to the online world.

sites are competing against millions of other online sites. There is no sense in starting a website unless you plan to market it. You do not want your site to be the proverbial “billboard in a basement”. Websites should not be launched until they have been optimized () and properly marketed. In fact, the most successful websites have and firms acting as consultants during their construction.

Your goals are simple: 1) Be Found 2) Be Found; and 3) Be Found.

If these goals are not reachable at least try to be found!
