Using the right keywords is essential to roping in the traffic your site needs to be successful. The right keywords give you high visibility, and bring you the right type of people that you can sell your services to.
A simple tip to keep in mind when choosing your keywords is to avoid being generic.
If you’re a divorce lawyer, for example, a very obvious keyword to maximize on your site’s copy would be “divorce” or “divorce lawyer”.
Taking it it a step further, you could add “New York Divorce Lawyer” or “Albany Divorce Lawyers”.
Now we’re a bit closer to what we need. We are in Albany, NY and we are competing for traffic in Albany, NY. If we are optimized for “Divorce Lawyer”, that’s fine, but we’ll be competing with a very large, and general pool of websites, and these searches could be coming from Indiana or Indonesia, which for our Albany, NY law firm doesn’t do a lot of good.
Think about what your law firm does, who needs its services, and where they are located. Make your keywords as focused and specific as you can, and you’ll start seeing more traffic that creates more leads.
