NBC Has Some Success With Internet Video Ads

NBC’s effort to run advertising on streaming olympic games coverage was awarded a bronze medal by eMarketer.

NBC brought in $5.75 million from video ads in their streams, which may seem impressive until you compare it to what CBS made off of one single college tournament game last year (four times more).

Errors were made: forcing folks to use a certain technology and download new programs, etc etc, but in the end it was a promising example of what’s to come. As video streaming and television starts heading towards broadband, a new arena will be opening up for online marketers to exploit.
