You’ve got all the mechanics in place for your website: its built on a good CMS that allows you to make changes, add content, and tweak the flow of your website; you’ve had your RSS feeds set up to syndicate; and you even have got a newsletter set up to send out regular mailings to your subscribers.
Now what?
It’s time to start writing! The key to your website’s success ultimately relies on your content. It is the capstone to your web presence and will be what drives traffic to your website.
We discussed the foundation of your website in the previous posts, but all of that foundation only serves to better display, disseminate, and promote your written content.
What kind of content to write
If you’re just starting out, your best step is to take on two tasks.
- List your properties:Start putting up photographs and detailed information of the properties you want to promote online. This should include all of the obvious things such as asking price, location (google map links are a big plus), year of construction, etc.
- Write a 5 part series of articles: Just like this series at the White Hat Firm blog, you need to put together an informative collection of articles that deliver great information. This is the core content on which you can build the rest of your site around.
Ideas for your 5 Article series
You’re an expert in your area. You know about the schools, commuter traffic, safety, change in property values, and just about everything else a potential buyer would want to know. Choose the region(s) you want to sell online, and put up a buyers guide to your area. Each article can focus on one of the above topics.
For example, your first article can give an overview of the neighborhood(s) you operate in, perhaps a bit of local history and other general information. Create a setting that the buyer can take part in — this will motivate them to look at your properties.
Your following articles can focus on other important details: school systems, changes in property values, etc. The goal is to allow potential buyers to experience the areas you sell in and leave a positive impression. Sell them on the neighborhood and your expertise first.
Remember to always include a few listings in every post as examples, or at the end as a “see more here” closing.
After you’ve added property listings and this 5 article series, you’re ready to go live and start growing your online realty business.
