Has Google recently sent you a polite message saying your ad will be deactivated if you don’t place a higher bid?
Relax. No big deal.
But don’t pay for it.
What’s happening is that the keywords in your ad aren’t matching the keywords that you’re targeting very well, and Google is thinking your ad is irrelevant. That means fewer clicks, which means less money for them in the end. Hey, they’re a business, too.
So what’s the solution here?
First, take down that ad and figure out the important keywords you’re going after. Make a group of ads for each.
Now, in each group, make a few variations of that ad incorporating the keyword(s) into the title and body of the ad. It’s essential that your ad has these keywords well placed in them for Google to know they’re relevant. In the end, this means you’ll actually pay less per bid and also benefit from receiving more click-thrus.
In a way, Google’s greed is actually a very nice bit of advice for you to better optimize your campaign.
