You need to have an easily clicked icon that grabs attention somewhere in either the header or the top of your navigation column. This is where browsers are used to looking for RSS options, so let them find it where they want to find it. You don’t need to have big flashy graphics either, just a legible link or small icon that stands out above the other content surrounding it.

It’s not a bad idea to put an RSS subscription link at the bottom of each post or page or news item, either (see this post as an example).
