SEO Tips: Aim Not-So-High

Aim for the middle with your keywords. It may sound a bit backwards, but it will bring you more traffic in the end.

By aiming for the middle, we’re targeting less-popular keywords that are highly specific to our content rather than the big and obvious keywords that the entire WWW is after.

This means higher rankings for lower-priority words instead of lower rankings for high-priority words. Let’s put it another way.

If you search a phrase, how many pages of results are you willing to page through before searching for another version of that phrase? 2? 3? 1?!

Most users aren’t going beyond 2 or 3 pages, so if you’re ranking anywhere after that 3rd page of results you’re traffic is going to be a mere trickle.

Now, if you rank page 1 on a lower-priority keyword, your going to be getting a lot more clicks. Even if there are 50% fewer searches for that keyword, you’ll probably get more than 100% traffic.

Consider your keywords, your competitions targeting of keywords, and find the niche where you can squeeze through and get on top.
