SEO Tips: Keyword List = Bad

There’s only one place on your website where a list of keywords is acceptable: in the meta tags.

Otherwise, don’t do it.

In our desperation to get higher positioning on Google and other search engine rankings we sometimes take risks that aren’t well thought out.

We know that we need keywords, and that keyword density is important, and at one time or another we usually get the idea to make a bunch of bogus text full of them, a laundry list, and stick it somewhere on our website.

Don’t do it.

Google and other web crawlers are smart enough to know what you’re up to, and realize that you’re trying to game their system. They won’t hestitate to punish you for it, either.

Remember that keywords are important, but that the need to naturally appear in the text. Otherwise, you’ll be lowering your ranking, not raising it.
