Search Engines, primarily Google and Yahoo!, provide webmasters with a pretty thorough set of tools and tips which are free and should be taken advantage of.
This area allows you to submit your site to the search engine, use free tools to see how your site is ranking and monitor your traffic, and helps you submit a sitemap to better index your site and its content on the web. It also is home to an informative blog written by Googlers that maintains an active and informative dialogue full of great tips and news.
Similar to Google but for Yahoo!. Here you can help Yahoo! understand your site, its content and the hierarchy of importance. You can see which pages are indexed by Yahoo! and keep track of how many ‘inlinks’ you have. Helpful to make sure all your content is being indexed and that Yahoo! knows that people are linking back to you.
Use both tools to keep the pulse of your site and its performance, afterall, they’re both free and they are the biggest search engines out there.
